WRAP publish FWRAP second year report
The REA who sits on the steering group of the Food Waste and recycling Action Programme are delighted to see that progress has been made over the last twelve months in progressing the issue of food waste collections, as well as addressing some of the issues food waste collections highlights such as plastics in biowaste.
The quality of feedstocks remains an important issue for the industry. The explosion of public awareness about plastic pollution following Blue Planet II has provided the catalyst to discuss and agree as a sector how best to manage plastics within food waste collections and recycling. This year the steering group published a position statement "Keeping plastics out of digestates and Compostsââˆoutlining recommendations for compost producers, AD operators and waste suppliers. This supports Guidance on the management of caddy liners at AD facilities published last year.
