GMCA Issues OJEU Notice for Food and Garden waste composting operators

The Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) has issued a procurement OJEU notice (Official Journal of the European Union) to procure a framework of in-vessel composting operators who can receive 125,000 tonnes of mixed food and garden waste per annum for treatment and recycling. Companies are encouraged to register on the Procontract Due North e-tendering platform

On the morning of Thursday 17th January 2019, a supplier briefing session is being held in Manchester city centre where more details will be provided. Potential suppliers who wish to attend the briefing session should book a place by emailing

This follows the earlier withdrawal of Lot 3; Biowaste Management Services for the processing of Greater Manchester’s food and garden waste which is part of the reprocurement of the Greater Manchester’s waste and resource management services. The decision was taken due to the continued uncertainty over the national resources and waste strategy, announced by Defra on 18th December 2018.
