The EA is going to review all thirteen Quality Protocols and decide whether they are still fit for purpose. This work will be carried out over the next 12 - 18 months with compost, digestate and poultry litter ash QPs being the first 3 to be reviewed.

Government calls for evidence on standards for biodegradable, compostable and bio-based plastics, including the impacts of such plastics on waste processing.

Consultation published on proposals to simplify and clarify RIDDOR reporting requirements

HSE is consulting on proposals to simplify and clarify the reporting of injuries, diseases and dangerous occurrences.

This is as recommended in the October 2010 Government Report, "Common Sense, Common Safety" and by Professor Ragnar LÃÂ¶fstedt in his 2011 report Ã¢ÂÂReclaiming health and safety for all: An independent review of health and safety legislationÃ¢ÂÂ.

Details of the proposals on how best to give effect to LÃÂ¶fstedtÃ¢ÂÂs recommendation can be found by viewing the consultation document on the HSE website. The consultation launched today (2 August) and is open until 28 October 2012.
